A homeless person is charged with beating his girlfriend to death Thursday morning in an abandoned house near downtown Las Vegas.

Armondo Washington, 47, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder, according to Las Vegas police.

Officers were called to an abandoned house on the 400 block of Harrison Avenue near D Street and Owens Avenue at 7:40 a.m., where a woman was found dead in the back yard, police said.

Police believe the woman was Washington’s friend and that he hit her with a “blunt object” during an argument.

The woman is identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after her family is notified.

Details on Washington’s next court appearance were not available on Thursday afternoon.
