A huge whiskey tasting takes place on the Las Vegas Strip in October

LAS VEGAS COSMOPOLITAN – Let’s call it a sign that Las Vegas is getting back to normal with events that were absolutely normal before the pandemic. The resort will meet up with The WhiskyX for a night of tastings, food and live music on Saturday, October 23 by the Boulevard Pool. The event features more than 60 whiskeys from around the world, live sets from St. Paul & The Broken Bones and Fitz & The Tantrums, a live podcast tour with comedian Adam Carolla, and dishes like pork belly rolls from Momofuku by David Chang, Bāng Bar’s Fold-Ups, Arroz de Pollo and Setas Silvestres from Jaleo by José Andrés, porchetta sandwiches from Lardo, mini burgers from Holsteins Shakes & Buns and Hattie B’s Hot Chicken Tender platter. DOWNTOWN – The Fremont Hotel & Casino is celebrating its 65th anniversary with a range of themed cocktails on Friday May 28th through Monday May 31st. The Fremont opened on May 18, 1956 as one of the first high-rise hotels in Las Vegas. Boyd Gaming took control of the property in 1985 when the company purchased the Fremont and its sister property, the Stardust, which is now Resorts World. The Filament Bar, which takes its name from its signature Edison lightbulbs, is offering six special cocktails to mark the anniversary. The Something Blue combines Tanqueray Gin, Blue Curacao, soda water and a sweet and sour mixture, while the Sazerwhat, a variant of the Sazerac, contains Maker’s Mark Bourbon, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, ginger beer, lemon and bitter spreads. The Old Fashioned jackpot mixes Angels Envy Bourbon, Cointreau Triple Sec Liqueur, orange juice, soda water, cherries and bitters, and Starburst is made from Malibu rum, peach schnapps, apple wrinkles, pineapple juice and strawberry puree. The Thin Mint rounds off the cocktails and offers Frangelico liqueur, Rumple mint-peppermint schnapps, half and half, green crème de menthe and a sweet and sour mixture.
