A Las Vegas man has been accused of sending envelopes containing “suspicious” white powders to the New York State Gaming Commission, federal authorities said.
72-year-old Brent Carter has been charged with false information and false reporting in a criminal complaint. This emerges from a press release from the US attorney for the Northern District of New York. The letters were sent to the Gambling Commission from April to January.
“Samples of all white powders and other substances were tested and did not contain any hazardous material,” the authorities said.
Carter appeared in an Albany courtroom on Wednesday and was released on condition that he abide by the conditions imposed by the judge.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the US Postal Inspection Service.
