A person kills the upstairs neighbor for unknown causes after an incident with a pal, Las Vegas Police say Las Vegas Native Breaking Information headlines

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – Las Vegas police are seeking help from the public in locating a suspect linked to a murder in the East Valley on February 24th.

According to Lt. Ray Spencer of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was investigating detectives at 5650 E. Sahara Avenue near Sloan Lane.

Spencer said around 8:11 pm on February 24th that officials had been called to the apartment complex because of “unknown issues”. When they arrived they were met by a neighbor who said a woman in an upstairs apartment was screaming for help. The neighbor told the police that the woman screamed, “Why are you here? Why are you in my apartment?” The neighbor went in and found the woman injured.

Spencer said the woman sustained several blunt injuries, but they were not sure which weapon, if any, would be used. The woman was taken to Sunrise Trauma, where she later died.

During the investigation, the police found that the suspect lives in an apartment directly below the woman.

“LVMPD Homicide Investigation reveals that the suspect lives in a nearby apartment where he was involved in an argument with another person,” a press release said. “At one point the suspect went into the victim’s apartment and beat her to death.”

The suspect, a 32-year-old Spanish man, was involved in a domestic incident with his girlfriend, Spencer said. During the incident, the man went upstairs to the woman’s apartment, apparently unprovoked, and killed her.

The woman killed was identified only by Spencer as a 63-year-old black woman. The Clark County Coroner Office will release her identity after the next of kin are notified.

Spencer said the friend and her children were unharmed.

No arrests were made in the case. This remains an active investigation.
