Automobile hits pole in north Las Vegas, driver killed

North Las Vegas police are investigating a car accident that killed a 37-year-old man Sunday night.

Officer Alexander Cuevas said police were called to the intersection of East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Bassler Street at 11:34 p.m. to report a crash.

First responders came and found an injured man behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla, who had left the east-facing lanes of Lake Mead and hit a bar on average, police said in a press release.

The driver was taken to an area hospital where he died. The police do not yet know why the driver’s car left the lane. He has not yet been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the police at (702) 633-9111 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 for an anonymous notice.
