The Spartanburg Ballet was the focus of a trade show held in Las Vegas this week. The event was part of a collaboration between the dance company and Contec, Inc., a local manufacturer of cleaning products.
The professional dancers performed for two days, three shows a day. Her shows were part of the ISSA North America (International Sanitary Supply Association) 2019 show, which started on Monday and ends on Thursday. The fair is the top event for professionals in the cleaning industry and the only fair for cleaning and maintenance solutions.
This is the first time Ballet Spartanburg’s Professional Company has performed in Las Vegas. The dancers rehearsed for the past month to prepare for the presentation of a new product as part of the Contec program, the Zero Gravity Mopping System.
“When Jack (McBride, CEO of Contec, Inc.) approached me about working together to introduce the Zero Gravity Mopping System, I began to think about how Contec, Inc. uses research and the creative process to develop new products, which is very important Similar to how we are always looking for new ideas and topics to create new ballets. It seemed like the perfect solution for both businesses and the arts to work together on the launch of a new cleaning product with newly created choreography, ”said Carlos Agudelo, Artistic Director of Ballet Spartanburg.
McBride and Agudelo have been friends for more than 10 years. McBride values the beauty of dance and the programming of the Spartanburg ballet. Their friendship sparked many common ideas.
“When creating the choreography, I had to make sure we took into account the Pug and Jack’s request for specific dance clothes, which are overalls. I wanted to make sure the classical technique was used by mixing it with contemporary and jazz movement. I expect a positive reaction to the newly developed wiping system and to the choreography, ”said Agudelo
More than 16,000 companies took part in the fair and offered new cleaning and disinfection ideas as well as cleaning products. But only one global company brought their own professional dancers for ballet companies.
