Pop culture lovers will get their money’s worth at this year’s Barrett Jackson auction at the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 17th to 19th. As the standard bearer at collector’s cars and automotive lifestyle events, Barrett-Jackson has long held many surprises in store for his fans. (Few will forget the emotional 2018 auction, highlighted by replicas of vehicles driven in the iconic films by Burt Reynolds, who passed away just before the auction.) This year is no different, with everything from famous DJs and legendary ones Films to former wrestling superstars.
Fans of Deadmau5 (which is fresh from a very successful stint in Las Vegas and has a huge crowd gathered at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center) will no doubt want to see and possibly bid on a 2015 McLaren P1 that used to belong to the superstar DJ / Producer. It’s a very popular vehicle with hypercar enthusiasts; It can reach 120 mph in 6.8 seconds, the result of a specially designed, low profile V8 engine that develops 727 horsepower, in addition to a single electric motor that can produce an additional 176 horsepower. All in all, the car has 903 hp and is one of only 375 examples produced. Based on a one-piece carbon fiber monocoque chassis, the car has only traveled 180 miles.
Also on the block this year is the original “10 Second Car,” a 1994 Toyota Supra that was driven by Paul Walker in The Fast and the Furious from 2001 and 2 Fast 2 Furious from 2003. Built by Eddie Paul at the Shark Shop in El Segundo, California, the factory turbo car is powered by a framed 2JZ-GTE, 3.0 liter turbo in-line 6 engine that is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Wrestling fans will be thrilled to see the 2003 West Coast Choppers custom chopper from former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg. The 2003 chopper “El Diablo” was developed by Jesse James’ team, is powered by an S&S V-Twin Evo engine and rides on a massive 18-inch-8.5-inch rear wheel and 21-inch 5 inch front wheel. It was used by Goldberg in the television series Bull Run.
“If you’re looking for performance and provenance, you’d better visit our Las Vegas auction in June,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “There are few opportunities to own cultural icons like The Fast and the Furious Supra or the hypercar performance of a McLaren P1. This year’s Las Vegas auction will offer everything we love about the car collector hobby. “
Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, said the company made a lot of noise during its Scottsdale auction in March and is eagerly awaiting its arrival in Las Vegas.
“Our foot is firmly on the accelerator as we head into Las Vegas and into the beautiful new West Hall in the Las Vegas Convention Center,” said Jackson. “We couldn’t be more excited to head to a great new venue with some great cars like the 2019 Ford GT (pictured below) to great Vegas. Deliveries are coming in quickly – now is the time to be part of a phenomenal event. “
