Baton Rouge, Louisiana, locals and avid Vegas Golden Knights fans Gerald and Janice Pellar were no strangers to Las Vegas as they began exploring potential cities for their energetic and fun retirement lifestyle.
The couple had been to town frequently since 1975 and knew that Las Vegas was anything they wanted. Once the decision was made, all they had to do was find a home that suited their lifestyle.
The couple looked at single-family homes, but after choosing to leave the time-consuming chores of house maintenance behind, they focused on high-rise, maintenance-free life. The Pellars carefully evaluated several high-rise condominiums in and around Las Vegas.
“Over the years we have seen these beautiful towers being built on the South Strip on a visit to Las Vegas,” said Gerald Pellar.
So, of course, One Las Vegas was on their list of possible future homes for the couple to see.
“One Las Vegas had something else from the moment we walked in,” said Janice Pellar. “We knew it was.”
Before making a final decision, the couple rented a two bedroom, 2½ bath condominium in One Las Vegas for a year. Experience convinced them to buy the same floor plan, but as a corner unit.
“The view is incredible. Coming from Baton Rouge, where it’s very flat just sitting on our deck overlooking the mountains at sunrise and sunset, not to mention the spectacular views of the Strip, is an incredibly enjoyable experience, ”said Janice Pellar. The couple share their home with their 6-pound dog and a bird, whose cage is strategically positioned through the floor-to-ceiling windows where it gets plenty of natural light. “I think she loves the view more than anyone.”
Gerald and Janice Pellar split their time between Las Vegas and their townhouse in Baton Rouge, where the couple spent most of their 43-year marriage and owned and operated a successful national electronics communications company.
“We’re now spending about nine months here and three months in Baton Rouge,” said Gerald Pellar. “When we leave, locking the door and leaving is great because we know we can count on the concierge and maintenance team to take care of whatever comes up.”

First and foremost, the couple appreciate the feeling of security at One Las Vegas.
“Safety was a very important part of our decision to purchase One Las Vegas. We always feel safe here and know that our home is safe when we leave. “
The only time of year the Pellars don’t leave town is the hockey season. Enthusiastic ice hockey fans, the couple passionately hugged the Golden Knights even before the team’s first game.
“We were there from the start,” said Gerald Pellar. “We have season tickets and we wouldn’t think of missing a game. It’s great that One Las Vegas is so close to the T-Mobile Arena. “
And while their NFL allegiance to the Saints remains, the pair look forward to the opening of Allegiant Stadium, the soon-to-be home of the Raiders, just five minutes from their home.
Gerald Pellar buckles on his skates (roller and ice) at least three times a week as a member of a skating group in Las Vegas that is over 60 years old.
“He has to be in good shape to keep up his skating activity,” said Janice Pellar. “This is one reason he loves the state-of-the-art fitness center on site.
Janice Pellar appreciates the location of One Las Vegas on Las Vegas Boulevard South and says to friends: “We want to say that we live on the strip, not the strip. It’s nice that the high-energy strip is very accessible, but some days you might just want to walk to the neighborhood restaurant across the street. “
Gerald and Janice Pellar enjoy all of the entertainment options in Las Vegas, with easy access to venues such as the Smith Center for Performing Arts, which they visit frequently.
“There is always something else to do in Las Vegas,” said Janice Pellar. “It’s the symphony one evening, the National Finals Rodeo another day, and the jazz the next. We couldn’t be happier with our move to Las Vegas and our One Las Vegas lifestyle. “
