I-15 Visitors heavy as many wait late to go away Las Vegas

The southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Primm were busy Monday morning as some tourists appeared to have waited until the last minute to leave Las Vegas and return to California.

Traffic cameras showed slow traffic across the region on I-15 heading south as the New Year’s weekend officially ended. The slowdown continued over the weekend as delays were reported on both Saturday and Sunday. There was a 14-mile safety lock on I-15 southbound near the Nevada-California border on Sunday afternoon when commuters returned to the Golden State. Delays were also reported on Saturday.

Traffic at the border was slow in the first few months of the coronavirus pandemic, but traffic has been increasing steadily since June, and finally topped the 2019 total in October.
