LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – Las Vegas police were investigating a murder east of the Strip Sunday morning.

At around 10:23 a.m. on December 13, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police was called to the 4700 Block on Deckow Lane near Koval Lane and Tropicana Avenue.

LVMPD’s Ray Spencer said first responders found a black man in his early 30s dead from a gunshot wound in the apartment.

The investigation found the suspect is also a black man in his early 30s who, according to Spencer, was recently released from California prison. The suspect came to Las Vegas and lived in the apartment with his mother.

The suspect invited a friend – the victim – and the two had an argument. During the fight, the suspect drew a gun, shot and killed the victim.

The suspect ran west from the scene, Spencer said. Detectives looked for him and stayed on the scene to interview neighbors. A motive is currently unknown.

The victim is identified by the Clark County Coroner Office.
