Las Vegas police say vehicle thefts are on the rise across the valley

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is warning drivers of a surge in vehicle thefts across the valley.

Officers say they have seen cases of stolen vehicles increase by 26% compared to last year.

According to authorities, the commandos of the Convention Center and the Spring Valley Area have seen the greatest increases.

Officers say crooks are targeting older Chevy Silverado and Tahoe models, Ford F-series trucks, and Honda Civics and Accords.

Police remind drivers never to leave their keys in the car, hide valuables, install a loud alarm and install a kill switch.
