Newest speakeasy in town

Pssst! There’s a new secret to Beauty & Essex in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and it’s fittingly called The Speakeasy Burger. The off-menu burger with double beef and double cheese is topped with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and – shh – secret sauce on a sesame bun and served in a sealed box with truffle fries and chocolate. Peanut butter shake. It’s $ 50.

Beauty & The Brunch at Blume

Blume Kitchen & Cocktails, 3145 St. Rose Parkway in Henderson, presented Beauty & The Brunch on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The menu says The Blume Benedict with rock steak and prawns for $ 28. Arts District wins BBQ

The Arts District is getting a new BBQ area with a bit of Tex-Mex on the side. Chef Gerald Casas, who has spent time in the kitchens of Thomas Keller, Mario Batali, Caesars Palace and Station Casinos, will be launching 1504 Breaswood BBQ on Saturday at S. Main Street. The name refers to the Houston area he grew up in, and many of the recipes he will use pay homage to his grandfather’s Tex-Mex restaurant.

Breaswood will have an open plan kitchen and about a dozen indoor seating, with seating for an additional dozen on a sidewalk patio on Main Street and a larger back patio where Casas will have live acoustic music on weekends until midnight. Marissa Hollenback will perform on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the opening.

Wine day dinner in Ahern

Farmers’ markets are returning

Fresh 52 Farmers and Artisan Market has opened two new locations: Fridays from 3pm to 8pm starting this week at 21 W. Imperial Ave. in the Arts District and from 3 June to 8 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of every month at 30 Strada Di Villaggio in the village on Lake Las Vegas in Henderson.
