Las Vegas police arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a fatal shootout in the East Valley last week, police records show.
Zyonn Dawson was arrested on Friday in connection with the death of 32-year-old Jose Jesus Santa Cruz, who was shot and killed on January 7th, and sent to Clark County Detention Center.
The officers were rushed to a mall at 4777 E. Charleston Blvd. at around 6:50 p.m. on January 18. called. After a report of a shooting, Metro said. When the police arrived, they found Santa Cruz lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.
The 32-year-old was taken to the university hospital, where he died. The Clark County Medical Examiner’s office ruled that his death from a bullet wound to the upper body was murder.
Investigators believe the man ran into a parking lot when he had an argument with another man who shot him. Witnesses told police a man ran out of the area, Lt. Richard Meyers said.
Dawson is charged with murder with a lethal weapon, court records show. He is due to appear in court on Wednesday morning.
He stayed in jail without bail on Saturday. Further information about his arrest was not immediately available.
