A man was hospitalized with second degree burns to his legs after a fire in downtown Las Vegas Monday morning.
Firefighters responded to the Juhl apartment complex at 353 E. Bonneville Ave. at around 7:42 am in response to reports of light smoke coming from a unit on the second floor, the Las Vegas Fire Department said in a statement. When they got there, they found smoldering garbage and extinguished it with a fire extinguisher.
The man living in the apartment was treated by paramedics before being taken to a local hospital, the department said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated, but investigators are investigating “the possibility of careless smoking”, according to a press release.
The Clark County firefighters also responded to the call, resulting in “minimal damage” according to the press release.
