The city of North Las Vegas announced Thursday that it was working with the College of Southern Nevada to open a new COVID-19 vaccination center in CSN North Las Vegas.
In a statement, the city said operations at the site will begin on Monday and will only offer the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine by appointment. Those currently eligible for the vaccine can schedule an appointment online at vax4nv.nv.gov or by calling 1-800-401-0946.
“Getting the COVID-19 vaccine is safe, and it’s important to get it if you are eligible. This facility will allow residents of our hardest hit areas to more easily access the lifesaving shot, ”Mayor John Lee said in the statement.
Vaccinations take place at the Tyrone Thompson Student Union at the south end of the CSN North Las Vegas campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
CSN North Las Vegas’ location replaces Canyon Springs High School’s POD (Point of Distribution), which will shut down on Friday. As at the Canyon Springs site, the North Las Vegas Fire Department will operate the CSN North Las Vegas POD with the support of several regional and federal partners.
Moving to CSN North Las Vegas places the Vaccination POD in zip code 89030, which the city says has had some of the highest COVID-19 cases and lowest vaccination rates in Clark County. Two other zip codes in north Las Vegas – 89031 and 89032 – see similar trends.
