Pedestrians die in downtown Las Vegas

Police are looking for a vehicle described as a dark gray Honda Civic after a fatal collision Friday night killed a man crossing the street in central Las Vegas.

A 38-year-old unidentified man crossing outside of a marked or implied zebra crossing was hit by the vehicle and died shortly after the accident at 9:25 p.m. on North Decatur Boulevard north of Vermont Avenue, according to a preliminary police report.

Witnesses told police the pedestrian took a break as traffic slowed and Decatur crossed again and was hit by the vehicle. He was thrown over the intersection and landed on the west sidewalk on the south side of the intersection.

The vehicle fled the scene. Witnesses began to provide assistance and called for paramedics. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
