LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – Share Village Las Vegas is expanding its pantry seven days a week to accommodate those affected by COVID-19 vacations and layoffs and to provide emergency food supplies.
The change in working hours is the result of an overwhelming number of requests for support as the corona virus has evolved, the organization said in a press release. Share Village said its pantry will remain open without interruption until further notice.
“The large number of layoffs and vacations of our employees in the gaming and hotel industries has a much greater demand than expected in Las Vegas. We’ve seen food and nutrition requests increase by 500% over the past week. We are here to serve the Las Vegas community in any way we can. This also includes services for veterans and seniors as needed. “Said Arnold Stalk, founder of SHARE Village Las Vegas.
Share Village said its food rescue program will continue uninterrupted. The organization’s food rescue program enables SHARE Village to collect food rescue items every evening with its fleet of emergency trucks, including nightly pickups from participating Starbucks locations, hotel / casino partners and grocery stores in Las Vegas.
Share Village Las Vegas is the only nonprofit in Las Vegas that provides 24/7 emergency and crisis intervention services
Share Village’s pantry is located at 50 North 21st Street.
