The Nevada Highway Patrol, the Las Vegas police force, have teamed up to stop off-road drivers on I-15

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – Traffic on Interstate 15 begins to jam in the south-facing lanes most Sunday afternoons as visitors from Southern California head home after the Las Vegas weekend.

The Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission sends numerous “heavy traffic” warnings every Sunday and more than 12-mile backups.

It is known that this traffic safety system causes many drivers to get out of the traffic, and the police report that sometimes drivers drive off the marked road in order to overcome the traffic.

The Nevada Highway Patrol teamed up with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on April 25th to remind these drivers to stay on the road and be patient.

NHP warned drivers on Sunday morning on its official Twitter page that traffic laws were not being enforced.

It appears that not all drivers saw or heed the warning as officials say they ran over multiple drivers driving out of marked lanes.
