The food bank is currently working on the Ranch Island Rescue Animal Sanctuary. Pick-ups are offered every second Saturday from 1 p.m. to 1 p.m. The bank works with a reservation system to maximize efficiency and optimize contactless collections. You can sign up for a box through the group’s Facebook page. Everyone is welcome to receive food.
In the few weeks that they have been in operation, the grocery bank has seen a lot of demand from the community. They have given out more than sixty boxes of groceries (each box contains approximately ten meals) and are working to expand their volunteer base and online presence to continue reaching more people in the community. Several vegan restaurants in the area have joined and act as drop off points for people who leave non-perishable donations. The team also set up a Venmo account (@ LasVegan-FoodBank) to offset the cost of adding fresh produce to the boxes.
If you’d like to get involved, visit the group’s Facebook page for more information.
